Precision Machining with a Mission
Our Story
Savage Precision’s journey began during one of the toughest economic times in history, the Great Depression. As a Native American Indian of Choctaw descent, our founder, W.T. Gardner, learned early on about hard work, resilience, and the importance of building people up. After serving two years in Germany with the Army, W.T. returned to the U.S. and began working at a Ford plant. Laid off due to economic hardships, he took a machinist job at Temco, driven by the promise of better pay.
In 1960, W.T. joined Texas Instruments, Inc., where he honed his precision machining skills and rose to foreman over the non-metallic shop. After 15 years at TI, he took a bold step to start his own business with his wife, JoAnn Gardner.
In 1973, the Gardners set up a small machine shop in their garage with a used Bridgeport Mill, saw, and lathe. With W.T. balancing his foreman role at TI during the day and working with JoAnn on their budding enterprise in the evenings and on weekends, the Gardners officially launched Savage Precision Fabrication, Inc. in 1975, moving to a small location in Garland.
Getting the business off the ground was challenging, but JoAnn rose to the occasion. As the financial mastermind behind the business, JoAnn took the risk of selling their family home to ensure that Savage Precision could continue to grow. The risk paid off, and Savage Precision has upheld a reputation of quality, hard work, and growth in the decades since.
W.T. and JoAnn built Savage Precision on a foundation of quality and hard work. W.T.’s legacy lives on through the Savage family and valued employees, including JoAnn, who took over as CEO upon his passing in 2013. JoAnn has made it her mission to continue honoring him by delivering superior quality products on time and within budget.
Today, Savage operations remain in the family with JoAnn and W.T.’s son, Scott Gardner, taking over as company president in 2024. With decades of experience at the company, Scott is committed to upholding the values his parents established almost 50 years ago.
